Where to buy in Dollis Hill
September 29th, 2008 by | Filed under Dollis Hill.Dollis Hill was originally a village in Middlesex Forest. It was called Daleson Hill in the 16th century, and later “Dolly’s Hill”. The area was principally taken up with dairy farming. There was a Dollis Hill House with a large garden built in 1823. The grounds were turned into Gladstone Park early in the 20th century (the name commemorating the fact that Lord Gladstone often stayed at the house). Earl Temple’s estate was built around this time. Much of the residential development in the area took place between the First and Second World Wars.
Dollis Hill is on the east and south sides of Gladstone Park. South of the Park heading towards Dollis Hill Station is the Dollis Hill Estate, an orderly collection of streets containing mainly Edwardian houses. On the other side of the tube line towards the High Road are more modern properties and some purpose-built flats. East of Gladstone Park, there are large detached properties and small semi-detached houses in Dollis Hill Avenue and Gladstone Park Gardens. There are mansion blocks of flats in Dollis Hill Lane and in Coles Green Road.
