Where to buy in Kensal Green
September 29th, 2008 by | Filed under Kensal Green. The name “Kensal” started off as Kingisholte or King’s Wood in Old English. This area became popular for housing after the opening of the Kensal Green Cemetery in 1832. Cemeteries were the Disney Worlds of the day. For some reason, Victorians took a particular pleasure in visiting cemeteries and liked to live nearby.
Kensal Green is a fairly small area between Chamberlayne Road, Harrow Road and Purves Road. The Green itself is the cemetery on the other side of Harrow Road. The triangle of streets to the west of Chamberlayne Road contains attractive three-storey terraced houses in streets such as Wakeman Road and Pember on the North side of the rail lines to Kensal Green station. On the other side of the railway lines, there are some more attractive houses in streets such as Ashburnam Road and Burrows Road. Several attractive streets runs south from Purves Road, including Napier Road and Victor Road.
