Where to buy in Morden
September 29th, 2008 by | Filed under Morden. The parish of Morden belonged to Westminster Abbey until the Dissolution of the Monasteries under Henry VIII, when it was bought by Richard Garth whose family built Morden Hall. It was still a village when the Northern line station opened there, after which substantial housing development took place.
The most sought-after properties are in the streets bordering Morden Park, such as Hillcross Avenue and Lower Morden Lane. Also popular are the streets running north of Hillcross Avenue up to Cannon Hill Lane, such as Camborne Road and Queen Mary Avenue. The houses in this area are mainly semi-detached houses from the 1930s. Also popular is the St Helier Estate, which is to the east of Epsom Road, stretching from Morden South station down to St Helier station. This contains terraces of houses built in the 1920s by the London County Council in streets such as Buckfast Road and Blanchland Road.
